About the Daily Archive
Every puzzle in the archive has the following properties:
- Unique: Exactly one solution.
- Rated by technique (2027 onward): Every 2027 puzzle is checked by a solver that uses only human techniques and is rated by the hardest one it needs, so none requires guessing. Each puzzle page names that technique.
- 2026 puzzles: Rated by the number of clues, so a few play harder or easier than their label.
- Permanently available: Older puzzles stay online — solve them any time.
Difficulty Levels Explained
- Easy (38–40 clues): Solvable with basic scanning and naked singles.
- Medium (33–35 clues): Needs hidden singles and naked pairs.
- Hard (29–31 clues): Needs locked candidates and intermediate patterns.
- Expert (25–27 clues): Expects X-Wing, Swordfish, and similar advanced tactics.

Tips for consistent solving:
- Start each morning with an Easy puzzle to warm up.
- Progress to Medium as you gain confidence with the basics.
